Drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park, which takes about two hours. Tarangire is famous for the thousands of elephants that come down to the park during the Dry season in search of water, but there are also plenty of wildebeest, zebras, giraffes, buffalo and hippos. In fact, four of the Big Five are found in Tarangire, with only the rhino being absent. Tarangire National Park has a varied, beautifully rough and hilly terrain around a winding river where many animals come to drink. The park is famous for its huge and mighty baobab trees. The tree bears nutritious fruits that are high in vitamin C and calcium, which are very popular with the animals. There are also yellow acacias, small swamps, palm trees and thorny acacias. Later, drive to Karatu for an overnight stay at Furaha Luxury Lodge.
After breakfast, take a scenic drive through Ngorongoro to reach Serengeti National Park by the afternoon, just in time for a perfect game-viewing drive. Serengeti National Park, the largest national park in northern Tanzania, has endless plains. It's home to a concentration of wildlife and has a diversity of habitats and landscapes, such as short-grass plains, savannah, thick bush, swamps and a snaking river. The northern part of Serengeti National Park is famous for its yearly migration of millions of wildebeest and zebras trek to find fresh grass, pasture and water. Later, after the game drive, head to your camp for relaxation and an overnight stay.
Early in the morning, after breakfast, we will head to the Mara River, which is a bustling place. A variety of animals gather around, from impalas to buffaloes. You might spot a crocodile lying still near the water’s edge, waiting for its next meal. The wildlife activity becomes increasingly lively as the temperature rises. In the distance, you might see a group of wildebeests, preparing for their annual migration. This is one of the most dramatic and famous sights at the Mara River, the great migration. Thousands of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles begin to gather near the river, sensing that it’s time to cross. The crossing, however, is never easy. The predators, such as crocodiles and lions, wait nearby, and the current is often strong.
After breakfast you drive to the central part of Serengeti National Park. The Seronera area has numerous wildlife species, including many predators such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs, as well as giraffes, elephants, hyenas, warthogs, hippos, impalas, buffaloes, and various kinds of birds. Seronera Valley is characterized by savannah plains, woodlands and acacia trees. The Seronera River acts as a source of water for the different wildlife species.
Drive from the Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, then to the Ngorongoro Crater. The famous crater is the main feature of this area. Two to three million years ago, a large volcano erupted and collapsed, forming a crater that created a unique ecosystem with a wide variety of vegetation. The crater is home to zebras, buffalos, warthogs, baboons, elephants, flamingos, ostriches and hippos. You can find a high population of predators, including lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and leopards. Of course, the attraction of the Ngorongoro Crater is the Big Five: buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion and rhino. Enjoy the game drive and later drive to Karatu for overnight.
After breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park, a compact, verdant park highly prized by bird lovers from around the globe. Although small in size, Manyara packs a mighty punch. It starts the moment visitors drive through the entry gates and encounter the amazing groundwater forest. Here, guests can see all types of flora such as mahogany, sausage trees, ficus and wild mango trees. Bird lovers are sure to be astounded by the vast array of birds, with over 400 species of migratory birds being found here. The saline waters of Lake Manyara are often dotted with bright pink flamingos and stodgy pelicans. In addition to the large number of birds found at Lake Manyara, it's also possible to see several types of animals here, including the elusive tree-climbing lions. Later, drive back to Arusha.
