Tarangire means the river of warthogs. It is named after the Tarangire river, the only source of water for the wildlife in the region during the dry season. The park is located in northern Tanzania and is mainly known for the presence of its ancient baobab trees, seasonal swamps, elephant concentrations, birds, and vast savannahs. Tarangire is the sixth-largest national park in Tanzania.

The park is one of Tanzania’s most remarkable safari destinations, located about 120km southwest of Arusha. covering approximately 2,850 sq.km, it is part of Tanzania’s famous northern safari circuit, together with Serengeti, Ngorongoro, lake Manyara and Arusha National Park.
